Special Interest Groups
All special-interest groups are organized by our members. We have several active groups, but we are always open to new ideas and organizers. If you have an idea for a new interest group, please contact any executive member.
Gourmet is a monthly get-together of Newcomer members and spouses (if you wish), in which we spend an evening together enjoying a themed potluck. It takes place at the host’s home. Evites will be sent monthly with details. Everyone is welcome and it is a great chance to mingle as singles or couples, and as an added bonus, the food is always amazing!
Our lunch dates are popular! Every month we check out a new place in town or the general vicinity. Dates for our Lunch Bunch are at noon on the third Thursday of the month, with the exception of September and October, which are held on the fourth Thursday.
Book club is another well attended group. We are a casual, but spirited group, and these nights are always fun. The night is hosted by a different member each month on the third Wednesday of the month. Come join us for equal parts discussion and socializing!
The Walking Clubs meets on Tuesday and Friday mornings at 10:00 am, either somewhere in Sarnia (Tuesdays) or in Bright’s Grove (Fridays). We walk for about an hour, then finish with a quick coffee. We are a small group with varying skill levels, so do not be afraid that you won’t be able to keep up.
We have a lot of talented ladies in our midst! Bring the latest project you're working on for some inspiration and company while you get crafty.
Knitters & Winers
Our knitting group meets biweekly on Wednesdays at 2:00 for some mingling, knitting and a beverage or two!
Pub nights happen once a month a local watering hole. We often have a drink and some munchies, plus a lot of laughs. Join us!
A place for our well-travelled members to tell tales of their travels and give tips on everything from what yurt to stay in, the wilderness, or where to get the best meal in Bangkok.
Book Share & Trade
A less structured book club format for members to share what they're reading.
Once a month a group of us will check out a film in town together, usually followed by a coffee and chat.
Cycling Club meets during weeknights or weekends in Sarnia or Bright's Grove. We bike for about 45 minutes to an hour, then finish with stop at a coffee shop. This is a small group with different skill levels, so don't worry about keeping up.
Interested in chairing a new interest group? We’d love to see a games night, coffee club, workout crew, or anything that catches your fancy! Talk to any executive member if you have an idea.
