We've compiled a list of all the things you might want to know about our Sarnia Newcomers Club below.

How much is membership?

$30 for the year.

What months does my Sarnia Newcomers membership cover?

Membership runs from September to June of the following year, but several of our special-interest groups continue through the summer months.

What if I join partway through the year?

You are more than welcome to join us anytime. If you join from January onwards, your membership fee drops to $20.

What does membership include?

The club is run by volunteers, so the membership funds go to covering administrative costs and making the club fun. We pay to maintain our website and our membership with the National Newcomers Council of Canada, which includes insurance coverage. Sarnia Newcomers also subsidizes some events.

Can I try the club before I join?

Yes! Non-members can attend two meetings or activities as a registered guest. This is a great way to meet some of our members. Just contact our Membership Coordinator so she knows to keep an eye out for you, or come with one of our members.

Is there an additional fee to join one or more interest groups?

No! The membership fee covers the cost of joining the club and allows you to participate in as many activities as you like.

Do I have to host events?

No, but you might reconsider after getting to know us! Many of our special-interest groups are hosted in members’ homes, with members taking turns hosting events, but hosting is never a requirement for participating. You can also choose to co-host with another member.

What are your rules for joining?

You must be a woman over the age of 18 and live in the Sarnia-Lambton area.

How do I find out about the meetings, events and special interest groups?

Once you’re officially a member, you will be invited to our private Facebook group and you will receive our monthly newsletter. We use Evite to manage all our events other than our regular monthly meeting.

Do I need to live in Sarnia?

Yes, you must be a resident of Sarnia-Lambton to join our club.

Can I bring my husband/partner to the newcomers’ events?

If your partner is a woman, bring her along! If not, there will be opportunities for your spouse to meet your new friends at some of the special-interest group events like Gourmet.

Can I get a ride to the meetings?

We don’t have an official ride share program, but there’s a good chance we have a member that lives near you and wouldn’t mind picking you up.

What if I want to become a Sarnia Newcomers sponsor?

We'd love to have you! Please contact our Sponsorship Coordinator to find out more.
